The Daily Dose #0089
The world offers distractions—honor, wealth, comfort, indulgences—but what are they in light of eternity? When you set your mind on the things of earth you set your mind on death. Set your mind on the things of God, and you will find life.
Today, reflect on what holds the greatest value in your life. Are there areas where worldly pursuits have taken priority over God? Surrender them to Him, and trust that living for His glory is the most worthwhile pursuit. Then, go do your work with all your might to the glory of God and the love of your neighbor.
"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?"
— Mark 8:36
Brief Biographical Summary
William Tyndale (1494–1536) was an English reformer and Bible translator whose work made Scripture accessible to English-speaking Christians. His dedication to God’s Word cost him his life, but his faithfulness left a legacy that continues to inspire generations of believers.
Fun fact: Tyndale’s dying prayer was that the King of England’s eyes would be opened. Within four years, the King authorized the distribution of English Bibles across the nation.
